i prefer the blue plastic diaphragm over the rubber.

Really, anyone else have an opinion on this??

I thought i read somewhere the blue plastic ones weren't very good.

Saw is running fine now.

I'm no expert, just a hack

Today I ran two different Stihl 039's and a Stihl 028 super. Ran both 039 saws with a 30 inch bar for testing purposes (and I had some 36 inch wood I needed to block up.)

And I should add that the 028S uses .325.

I personally despise the blue plastic ones. I never use them and have replaced several of them. I have read they are better for cold climates. It must not get cold enough here...

Well, was 10 below w wind chill 2 days ago, now it's 60 and raining.

It is a repair job for a friend, so I'll tell him to let me know.

I was wondering about this a few days ago. I replaced all the parts in a carb, and was fumbling around with all the extra parts trying to figure out what they were all for. I used the blue one, but there was another, thinner tan one with lines in it like it was fiber reinforced. Does that tan one work better? Easier starting or something? If need be, it's a 10 minute job to swap it out.

The tan one would be my choice (if it fits) , otherwise use what does fit .

They work as well as any but I feel they stand up better over a long period .

That's what I ran into too now that I look at it again. The old one is on the left. I would have to use the top two on the right to get the same thing, which is why I went with the blue one.

Right! The blue one was the same. It's what I used. The bottom one is different, and you'd have to use both the top two to get the right holes filled in. One has the little flaps, but the big section cut out. The other has the big section filled in, but no flaps. The blue plastic one had both.

almost funny every saw i own uses the same kit.

I use whatever fits when I build a carb. I use the tan, black rubbery one, or the blue plastic one. That is my order of preference.
