I had an 88' half ton chevy I got from a Naval auction down in Virginia when I was 18, my uncle had the hook up. I paid 3 grand for that thing and the body was PERFECT - it looked a week old..

I beat the living fukk outta that..I regret it.

I've had all kinds of trucks in my life, probably 12-15. I found out they all break down the same.

For a daily driver my 95' Toyota was probably my favorite to own, I used to try to blow it up in the slate dumps here smashing it through mud and the creeks..I never even changed a headlight bulb in that truck..I was lucky.

Plus I probably plowed about 10 chick's in the bed on summer nights at parties..I called it the love canoe.

We used to park in the river and fish and drink beer.

Probably a 5.2 is what I'll end up with. Just want it to sound good....not interested in building a hot rod outta this one.
Stop periodically adopting metrics just to put me in a state of confusion.
You mean a 318?

Had real good luck with the 318s, not so with the 360s.
If any remember the 340, could make them go quick but scattered quick too. But that was operator pushing red line.
Like said so much rust here we had many to wrench on. Ended up favoring GM because of parts interchange but they are all good when you need a ride.
Friend loaned me a Dakota w 318, I was surprised by the get up and go. The mpg sucked but who cares.
Oh and of my 318 experience the truck and station wagons had the better heads and cam.

Oh...that truck is still on the road, next time I ride by the dudes house I'll take a picture, it looks like it's gonna fall apart if he hits a pothole..there's no way that m'fer passes inspection..

My 96 3/4 dodge started cookin' oil around a 150k..it had a 360.

But other than that it wasn't a bad truck.

I bought a farmer's truck out of a junk yard for 150$ ,around 2002.
1973 D100 , I drove it out of the yard even though the crank would walk out the front cover a 3/4 of an inch when revved up.
100.00 $ 1984 HO 318 went in and I drove it for about 8yrs in Pennsylvania, salt eventually ate the frame beyond repair.
Best things I did to that thing was a limited slip 9 1/4" rear and a heated blanket under the bench seat cover for an entire heated seat.
It had a hitch on the front bumper for a hay wagon, but I used it for moving equipment around, nice to stow trailers away from the windshield perspective.

The intake manifolds had a sheet metal bottom and the gaskets would crack. They'd drink oil like crazy. Pulled a lot of intakes off those for that issue.
