Following… My Silvey RS2 showed up last week, I’m finally home after being on the road a month, I have several factory square that need to be reground cannot wait to get it set up.
I usually don’t change anything on the stone, or anything on the arm, except just the height of the cutter as it meets the stone so it ends up in the corner.
not alot can be done about the side plate angle. but you can reshape the wheel to cut a thinner top angle or tip the head over more. you will stilh need to dress the wheel so you do not get a crazy hook. Only way to thin/ sharpen the side plate is with a file. on a sq grinder the top cutting angle is controlled by how you dress the wheel in conjuction with how the tooh is presented to the wheel, the side plate is off the face of the wheel which also gets dressed so as not be leading the top plate/ side plate corner. The geometries needed depends on the particular square grinder.
