Sawmikaze 461 build

Started out with a brand new 461 Stihl.

Get it on a vice and start tearing it down.

Time for port timing, squish measurement and mapping.

Once the plan is hatched start making ready for the lathe.

I like to cut the squish band first.
Have to get it zeroed out good.

Then cut slowly to spec. with the boring bar.

Cut base to set squish tolerance perfectly as humanly possible.

Looks like this when finished machining.

On to porting after another check of the degree wheel, get it mounted securely to the porting jig as can be done.

Reassembly is pretty standard stuff other than a little carb work, timing advancement and 3 port muffler mod.

Seems to run well other than I kept hitting metal, I gave up after the third strike and went with what I had.

Figured I best take a few more pictures...

Muffler mods, enlarged stock outlet along with a Duke's front cover and an Egan deflector.
All pointing away from the operator for ease of the operator and all screened for use anywhere in the country.

I also threw on an outerwears cover on the stock air filter to keep the filter free from dust and flowing well.

And didn't forget Reggie the Rat either.

One thing that I didn't do was install a large dawg set. I figured that there's too many choices and the eventual recipient can install ones that they like best.
