I don't remember anything like that in my kit, but it's been a couple years.

I've had the box sitting there open for awhile so it could have fallen in there off something else, I'll hang onto it just in case.

Does it fit on either end of the crankshaft? Like it was a thread protector cap? That's the only thing foreign I can think of it being.
That could be what it is, it fits over the end of the crankshaft.

I finally got it finished up, I don't have any big wood to try it out in but I'll put some kind of video up.

List of parts I changed out.
Hyway 54mm cylinder and piston
Hyway gaskets and seals
Made a little brass bushing for the chain tensioner
Maxflow filter
Husqvarna decomp
74 jet for the carb, probably doesn't need it but just in case.
OEM circlips
OEM choke/fast idle
OEM bar studs, thanks @Woodslasher
OEM piston pin bearing and Oem intake boot inner ring, thanks @Mattyo

I also dyed the top cover black and I'm waiting on a Hyway half wrap

Looks nice.
What are you going to do with the 3/4 wrap handle? I'd maybe be interested.

FYI, I have done several 660s and 440 and have not had any problems with the FT gaskets or seals. (unless I ruin a seal installing the crank).

I assemble the case gasket dry.

I tried it out last night and it runs like crap, I'm not sure if it's the carb or a vacuum leak. When you let off the throttle it takes a second to return to idle. Also WOT will set on 12,500 for a second or two, then take off to 14,000 and stay there. I've tried to get it to quickly return to Idle but it only has about an 1/8 of a turn ether way and the rpm drops and it still does it no matter where you put it. This weekend I'll swap the carb and if that doesn't fix it I'll do another vacuum test. Here's how it's doing at the moment.

I was hoping there was something else it could be, I'll do a vac test on it and see what's up.

I watched the videos of the saw on YouTube and the blahblahblllaaahhh is the saw starving or running out of charge, either air leak or carburetor.

From what I understand the Farmertec case gasket is crap, I probably would have used it with some Hondabond but that Hyway cylinder came with a gasket set so I put it together dry.

Ok, I'll keep in in mind.

I have never used one on a completed build, but I do keep a few farmertec gaskets on hand for when I know I am splitting the cases again after torquing the screws, keeping OEM for final assembly.

They must have been terrible to cause problems, apart from gasoline resistance I would not consider sealing saw cases that extreme an applications.

They surely didn't care to copy original thickness.

FT 395 case gasket 0.022" OEM case gasket 0.012"

FT cylinder gasket was however marked as made in USA interface N-8094, and matches in thickness, 0.020"

I don't know that the 660 gaskets are bad from personal experience, just something I read and I had the Hyway gasket set so I used it.
