Gratuitous trany picts for @dall. Actually not too bad for over 240k on it. You can see that the flywheel bolts are not lining up anymore because the dual mass flywheel is starting to fail. I've had a single mass flywheel, clutch pressure plate sitting here for years waiting for this day. Had to order some hardware and other parts while I'm into this thing. Should be able to put it back together in a week.
That clutch disc is still good! Haven't hit the rivets yet. 🤣 We always called those "dual ass" flywheels. They make up for poor pedal work. Ive had customers complain when I switched them to old school. "it's jerky now". "Nope... You're jerky".

Neither, I just hate Subaru. :)
My wife’s outback has a pop click in the left front when turning at low speed under power, sometimes hitting bumps. Looked around under there but haven’t put it on the rack yet. Can’t decide if maybe CV or suspension related 🤔

New clutch and transmission in. I'll keep up on the little stuff until I get in the new power steering hose and axles. I am beginning to wonder at what point this becomes more than a hobby of just fixing my own broken down stuff. Got to replace AC compressor on the tractor and I'm tired of losing freon. I may start draining peoples cars that come to visit me.

Right! I can almost do anything I can do at work at home now.

I got to look through my buddy's Dobsonian light bucket. Once in a lifetime. You can't see by the pictures (phone camera through telescope viewer), but I could see a spot on the sun, and the mountains outlined on the moon. (very tiny, but I could make out the surface texture). 20240408_153318.jpg20240408_153256.jpg20240408_154409.jpg20240408_154407.jpg

That's really cool! I wasn't able to get any pictures this time. I got really good ones in 2017 but seem to have misplaced them.

Best photo I could get of the eclipse was how bright my shop lights were due to the darkness.
