Easy to lose a bar scabbard on any saw. Especially pole saws, with their short guide bars, and when tied to the roof of a car, or hanging out the back of a pickup truck. Improvised a lot of replacements with cardboard and duct tape, but decided to make a leash for mine.

Used indigenous materials: scabbard, zip ties, boot laces/para cord, cord lock.

Drill, punch, melt, or Dremel a couple of holes at least 3/4" apart (want the zip ties to lay flat inside so that they don't snag the chain).

Pre-fold the zip ties to the desired shape, tie the cord, add the cord lock.

Voilà!

(Yes, it will also work with creamscycle and orange pole saws!)

I use the same idea with small vinyl coated cable.

Older McCulloch's used a spring and a plastic hook. They had tabs molded on the outside to avoid catching the chain. That's why I used the zip ties, instead of tying the cord directly through the holes.

Thanks.

I saw a tree company that used a lunch pin/PTO pin through the bar. Got him and looked at my Stihl saw and I’ll be darned, it has a hole in the bar as well. I just shined a light from one side until I found the hole and marked it. Drilled a 3/8 hole and put the pin through the hole. I’ll get pics later if needed.
