Well, tossed a new Meteor piston in the 390 today and the rattling at idle is pretty well gone! Put it together without a base gasket, that yielded .017" squish and 175psi compression.

Can't wait to try it out!
That squish is with a stock cylinder? Let us know how it works. I've been thinking of doing a delete on mine.

I check all 4 sides of piston too (which seems to be a common practice anyway). Had a 372xt I recently deleted gasket on that was .018-.020 on 3 sides and tapered to .015 on one side. .015 still fine imo but good thing I checked in case it was less. I also spin the flywheel pretty good multiple times too, to crush the solder well.

I like yellow plastigauge for that reason. One spin and it reads correctly. .032” solder takes several revolutions to crush down good. I’ve had some read .018” and it actually hit the squish band and crushed the ring land [emoji30]
