Decided to get a top handle for some climbing. I was looking at a Stihl 200 or 201 but found this one that was a good deal. So spent a few hours cleaning it up. Need to get her in some wood. Maybe tomorrow!

Nice looking saw you'll have to keep us updated on how it runs and your likes and dislikes. :clap2:

Sell it and get a Stihl top handle before the problems start.

I think I’ll try this one for a while since I have less than 200 bucks into. If I find a deal on a 200 or 201 in good shape I’ll pick one up. But until then this will do. [emoji106]

Do yourself a favor and cut an outlet in the plastic muffler cover and shoot the exhaust straight out the side. The stock outlet points up and relies on airflow from the flywheel to blow the exhaust out the side opening. It doesn't work so well once the outlet is opened up. The exhaust ends up drifting up towards your hand. It's not terrible but can be annoying.

Also, if you still have the recoil and fw off, plug the decomp and bung on the transfer port. On my 2135, I also removed the steel plate on the back of the flywheel and just used nuts to hold the starter pawls on. Sheds quite a bit of weight which helps spool up.

Yeah I was thinking about getting a deflector and turning it down instead of up to get the exhaust away from the operators hand. Will the exhaust melt the plastic cover if you don’t cut it?

Are there problems with the decompression? This is 2013 new edition model. Heard they fixed a bunch of old issues with this newer saw.

Good idea on the steel plate. I was surprised to see that thing on the back of the flywheel. Might just pop it off real quick and remove it. [emoji106]

The NE has the auto decomp. I'm not a fan of decomps in general. They start easy without a decomp so its just an easy way to avoid an air leak and plug it before it causes an issue.

It will melt eventually. If I mod another one of these I'm gonna use a piece of round tubing and bring it out through the plastic shroud just flush with the edge, I think.

Yeah I figured so. Maybe I’ll just weld pipes out of the plastic. Easy enough.

Ditch the decomp.

The decomp will fail. They run much better ditched IMHO.
