Nikasil baby!!!
Getting plastics made isnt easy, they want an order of 5-10,000 pieces prepaid to start on them
it is on our list but down the road aways at this point
Ill make anything i think i can sell , we will talkAny plans on making a different pin bore for some pistons.
As in a 12mm 281/288 or any 10mm pinned big bore slugs? Can’t fit ‘em in an 1128 with that 13mm pin, even though they fit in 1122 with a 395 bearing.
What about the 272XP piston? I guess the 7900 piston will likely make that one up.
I’ll ship the Sudafed.Ill make anything i think i can sell , we will talk
I think mine was a mahle the last time I looked at it. It’s been a while, so I’m not sure. How do you tell if a jug has fake nikasil?haven't started the design yet but unless the 7900 is a Mahle nikasil cylinder only then we will use the 1.2mm ring to preserve the plating
only the modern era Mahle jugs have actual Nikasil, they own the patent , but its not that easy None of the Stihl jugs have Nikasil even if they are a modern Mahle jug. This is because Stihl uses four different manufacturers to build their jugs and they all use the Stihl proprietary plating, so they will be the same.I think mine was a mahle the last time I looked at it. Wow, that’s interesting, never would have knew that. I would need the number off of the base of a Dolmar/Makita Mahle jug to be able to find out from Mahle if it uses Nikasil or another formulation.
we learned about this by destroying a pair of 066 and a pair of MS661 jugs (all ported) with running single ring Wiseco pistons in them, just destroyed the plating in just a few tanks of fuel
after researching all kinds of stuff about rings and getting ahold of a guy at Mahle through a good friend here on the site we found out that most cylinder manufacturers use "Nikasil" the way people talk about a Xerox machine, just as a generic term.
I will say that the plating that Meteor has put on their cylinders in Italy by a major manufacturer is strong enough to run the single thin ring pistons on without damage, but porting them is pain because the plating is so strong too.
Now that I’m awake, I realize what I’m wanting may not be marketable.
A 52mm piston with a 10mm pin bore would be nice, but not sure if many would sell.
Will the 7900 slug have a 1.2 mm ring option, or will be stuck not being able to use in a Stihl jug?
