I bought this NOS cover for my $25 242. It runs real nice (doesnt look that hot!) but I put the top cover on it and it doesnt fit. It stops on the spark plug. Looked at the ipl and it had totally different numbers. Thats no surprise as Husqvarnas ipls are ALWAYS changing. Its got a Gilardoni cylinder on it so Im assuming its the right cylinder for it, and its a 1996 model. The numbers on the shroud are 501634 with an 07 written in magic marker. Does anybody know if this is the right cover or was it intended for another model? Thanks

I can't say if there was a similuary style top cover for the 242, but out of what you say, and the look of the top cover, I would say it's a top cover for 238.
133/234/238 had a crank with a shorter conrod and a lower top end as a result. They used the same muffler as 44/444 had.

I have a 242 that needs a top cover as well, but I need to look at the saw to see what I actually have.

Now I've got a dilemma...does husky make a small mount k095 bar in .063? If not, would a small rim sprocket work on the clutch to turn it into 3/8 LP?

.063 on K095 is not something readily available in my experience.

Changing the rim to 3/8LP would certainly be an option. Assuming it's not set up with a spur sprocket, it should indeed be the "small" size rim (not standard or mini)

Thanks. Thats what I was looking for. I thought the bar was absent from the US market. I'll probably put 3/8 on it.

There was 4 different class top cover for 133, 234, 238, 242, 42, 42 Special, 246.

133 had its own top cover.

234 & 238 used its own top cover.

42, from year 1988-1992 used a black top cover, 242, 42 Special, 246 used the same top cover, the black 42 cover is bolt on also.

The last top cover was for 242, 246 with a cat muffler.
