Haven’t got to cut as much as usual this winter. Have ran the 385, 262 and 550 some. All ran beautifully but one is a cold natured beast. The 550 is a frustrating endeavor to start. My only AT saw and not sure the issue but man I was already sweating by the time I got it fired Saturday. It has a MM only and runs awesome after starting. Just wondering if you guys have one saw harder to get started Than all the others.

How old is it? The newer flashes start and run much better.

A few pumps on the primer can help, don't worry about flooding the saw since it's just pulling fuel up into the carb and any excess goes back to the tank.

My newer 562 and 2253 (jonsered version of the 550) start easy. Maybe it needs a update, takes 10 minutes or so to do. Just have to find a dealer with the autotune stuff.

How cold is cold? How many pulls? When you pull the choke out and up are you sure it's staying engaged? I had one that would slide off fast idle if I remember correctly. My ms241 is my worst cold starter. 7 or 8 pulls then once it's warm it's usually one.

I've got a couple that are just contrary no matter what the temp is .Might take ten on a cold start then light off on one the rest of the day .They might be like women, all sisters but not identical twins .

I was wondering about this....After an update or a reset, how long does autotune take to “learn?” Should it start and run better immediately or does the process take several cuts?

One of my 288's will out cut the other 2 easily but its a bugger to start, even in the summer.

Truth be known they just are not from the same bolt of cloth so to speak .I have often remarked they are sisters but not identical twins .

Prob 15-25 pulls. Guessing of course. Choke staying engaged properly. I primer working also. I am beginning to think i need carb update or reset. Also going to try and unhook heater wires from carb as Tor suggested in a pm.
