How exactly does that O-Ring not fit the current 0000 120 5110 black m-tronic solenoid valve? I have both valves (the old one for the MS 280i and the current m-tronic black one here.) They have the same dimentions including the O-Ring. Please elaborate on it.

I ordered the part based upon your part number (9645 945 3001 O-ring 7x0.8). It was special order of course and took a while to show up. I took it home and went to install it. It was easily 3 times as thick as the damaged O ring. It would not fit in the housing. It's possible my dealer just gave me the wrong part, there's a inbred feeling to the place.

At the time I just assumed that it didn't fit and ordered a full solenoid. It also did not run well, and I ultimately sealed it in place with 1184. It ran perfectly for about 6 months after that but recently the saw has begun to flood.

Before I get flamed for the 1184, I was extremely careful and applied it with a needle after the lower half of the solenoid was already installed. No liquid gasket got on the lower valve parts of the solenoid. It worked well. The saw now has other performance issues.

Thank you for your replay. I had another look at both of my valves and the o-ring there has the same dimentions on both. I didn`t remove them from the valves, because I don`t want to damage them. But I measured it as good as I can in installed position. For me they are exactly the same. Wired. Maybe there is something different that isn`t visible? That o-ring is also used on the other solenoid valve from the FR 480 C-EF.

Probably my idiot dealer then. I still have that solenoid, so I'll try to get the right O-ring and check again.

What is the correct part # for the 201T? I am consider trying it. how do you reset the 201 module? Has a choke setting but not a fast idle setting.

Choke/fast idle ist the same on mtronic saws. Only thing you can do ist 90 seconds on triangle position and then turn the saw off.

Yea I figured that out last night. It wont stay running for 90 seconds without throttle. I guess Ill just start throwing parts at it.

Yes, that`s correct. It`s also used on the m-tronic clearing saws. The newer versions of the MS 362, 462 and 661 with m-tronic v.3 have the newer white solenoid valve. The first versions of the MS 462 C-M with 1142 400 4702 control unit and carburetor 1142/01 + 1142/02 had the black solenoid valve.
The white solenoid is the newer one? I just bought a 462 manufacture date 2/19 and it has the black solenoid...

I don`t know. Maybe to empty the last existing stock inventory? Which carburetor and control unit do you have (exact description of both)?

Thank you for the pictures. You have the newer carburetor and as I see it, you have the white solenoid valve in it. Have a closer look.

Yes solenoid is now 49.95 at your local dealer. Used to be $18. You can find a new mtronic carb on line for less. Harvest the solenoid CAREFULLY. I've bought NEW carbs for $25 including shipping on eBay.

Hope this helps. Rich
do you know which "solenoid" is coming with the mtronic carbys you purchased. That's a steal for the white ones. the Blacks are prone to failure with enough accumulation of "fines" sawdust getting past the f filter

Jeeesh. Seems like there are more combinations of parts etc. than there are combinations of picking winning lottery numbers. [emoji2957][emoji57]

is that the "older" style coil ? I remember a 4703 # with the new "repair kit" ?

It is the current version. The 4700 marking on the unit in the picture dosen`t belong to the part number. You are right, the part number ends on 4703 ( order no. 1142 400 4703) . It is the current version, because the plug of the wiring harness is secured with a screw there. That was changed a while ago on most models and part numbers changed.

No, you have to use the black one. If you haven`t already done it, change the pickup body in the tank to the newer orange version. It has a finer filter material.
