MS440 o ring question

I put the seals in my 440 this morning and it had a small leak between the sleeve and the crankshaft on the clutch side, I put a little grease in the sleeve and that stopped the leak, is that what you do or do you find an o ring that fits, the only OEM o rings for sale that I can find are over in the UK?.

I had the same issue with my 044. I believe they discontinued the O-ring because it would over time burn up and disintegrate. I packed mine with a bunch of grease and it did the trick.

I was just looking at some 044 and 440 diagrams and there's not an o ring listed.

Rebuilt an 044 an just used anti sieze lube between the sleeve and crank. Glad to hear i wasnt too far off on leavin that oring out haha
