I know it isn’t injected but the ms 661 can be bought locally for 12-1300, ms441 is 1050 and an ms 461 is about 1100

Stihl needs to spread the R&D costs slowly and over a period of time on this new tech. It WILL pay for itself but its silly economics to price the saws out of the consumers hands. After all its just an 80cc saw that as a 'tool' will not do the job any better than a 7910 Dolmar that can be had for $6-700usd. 'New' tech has not been received well by all in the industry, their is some 'risk' attached to this saw along with expensive service/parts. Any saw tech can rebuild a 7910 or 372, the 500i may be a little trickier needing specialist diagnostic tools, computers etc. These new Stihl's have prices that remind me of here in AU.

Ouch $2,255 Canadian$

That’s an insane price!! I was really hoping to grab one of these when they came out with a wrap handle but at that price I can’t see that happening anytime soon. I just picked up a new 661 Arctic Wrap for $1350 Canadian and it came with a 28” Stihl light bar. At $900 more I will have to pass.

Don’t think they will be that much, not that new of technology. Ts 500i is pretty much the same injection and the do cost more but only a couple hundred over a carbed ts saw of comparative size

I'm only going by what my dealer told me this morning, that's the genuine retail price here,

I understand retail prices in Ireland can be higher like they are in Australia for example.
17 years ago when I travelled through Norway a bottle of domestic beer was $10 and a small pizza for $40 CDN. ($8, $31 USD)

A lot of that depends on exchange rate. 10 years ago the Euro to USD exchange rate was $1.58 ish per 1 EU. These days it's around $1.14 per 1 EU.

That's a difference of $440 for every 1000EU spent. Swings in the exchange rate can be a deal killer. Most EU countries have very high tax rates. Ours is 24%.

Are you thinking of buying a 500i
I'm very curious. It depends on a lot of variables when that beast lands near here. I need to find out how to find the nearby dealer who turns the most product for the company. They may have an advantage in getting one into stock. One other item, ts500i is 10cc less than the new saw. May have new products production troubles as has been seen for many companies.
Honestly it depends on my ability to not feedl my CAD!! I have ms460 & 046 and a 661 that has a ported cylinder which should have a better power/weight than the 500i. So intellectually it is next to useless for me to get one of these "tweeners " . Better return on investment to send a new 046 cylinder off to be ported & base to lose .020". CAD doesn't work within those parameters so I may get one to take to a GTG to see how it does stock & find a porter to hand it off to so more money can be paid for a ph that's prolly not gonna match the 661.
I'm not sure the mental exercise is enough to protect me from getting one anyway:eyepop:
