I never saw the point of any of them with the venerable 288xpw in the stable.

I don't trust specs since I have a scale at home. 661R is lighter than a 390 wrap saw by 6 oz or so. 7900 half wrap is 14 lb 13 oz.

Clint how much difference is there from the solo to the 272xp unlimited coil?

So how about the swap deets
Not sure. My ported 7900 had a limited coil, and it wouldn't hit the limiter in the cut, so I guess it didn't really matter. Easier to tune with the unlimited coil, but I've also heard that the stock coil has a better advance curve (or something like that, anyways) than the 272 coil...

Now, if your saw was ported to where it wanted to run at higher than 13,600 (or whatever the coil is limited to) in the cut, then I guess you would need the unlimited coil.

I'd do the swap again for sure. I couldn't advance the limited coil at all or it would pop pretty bad. Stock coil never really had the throttle response that I love. Granted my swap was on the 65cc model but I usually tune it to 15,200 give or take. Much easier to tune if ya ask me.

I followed Randy's advice to retune the limiter.. just slightly past .and I think it runs great . How much more responsive is the throttle
