I have been looking at the new Huztl mills to try out, in canada the price just seems too good to ignore. I am looking at the 48" one. Problem is I have a 50" bar. Does anyone know if it will squeeze in there? otherwise I may be able to take the guard off and create a newer one on, or, just use my helper handle?

Thanks in advance

Any of the granberg can be shortened. You lose about 3" of bar length minimum with the mill.

I know they van be shortened. My question is if a 50" bar will squeeze into a 48"mill. I know the extra 2" is just more unusable bar. I just don't want to buy a 48" bar while I have a 50" sitting here

even with a 50 inch bar you will not have 48 inches of mill to use to use the whole 48 you need a 52 or 53 inch bar you lose some on moth ends from the clamps on the mill

Unless I'm missing something here won't the 2 extra inches of bar end up by the power head ?

I have a modded mill dedicated saw with no dogs and my mill sits tight to the powerhead, also my mill is set up so it is clamped on the center of the bar nose and with a 36" bar I still only have 34" mill width. I would expect without pulling your dogs and staying back from your tip you will lose at least five inches of mill width.

Thank you, Brian.

In your opinion, could 75LPX be converted to ripping chain. I have a bunch of it.
I don"t see why not,i run chisel ,if going round i set the grinder to 10 on top plate and zero side plate, gives a smooth finish in my softwoods ,if i make the angles too aggressive gets kind of grabby and bogs power,

Yeh, I did to some carlton chain
It was slow going, so I sped up. some of the teeth got a bit hot, but I only found out how hard they were when I came to sharpen the chain with a file. It was skating across
I had to get it on the grinder again to remove the hardened edge

I've found that milling with a couple different type of chains. It's almost like it work hardens or something. Stihl chains seem to do it a bit.
