magnisium welding?

Who welds mag? I need some holes filled in on a chainsaw case? I can do aluminum without a problem with my tig..but never tried mag....thanks

There is a thread started on repairing top cover holes on 2 series hookies. They used marine grade epoxy and a heli-coil.

I'm not great at mag welding but can help you out Brett. I'm on Long Island.

I've got filler rod.

It's harder than aluminum in some ways, easier in others.

I talked my local welding supply out of one rod. They weren't suppose to break a pack, but those things cost some $$$!! I was able to repair the holes for the brake flag on a 026.

Thanks guys....but I found a guy a half hr from me that has rod and can do it...I have done some research and I might give it a try soon...I have found that most of the myths about magnisium are not true and that it is very similar to aluminum. ...my local airgas shop quoted me 110.00 for a 1lb pack of 92a filler rod

Yeah if it's not a rush job don't pay the brick and mortar store price for rod.

$110 for a pound is cheap.
