HI guys.
I'm looking for just one BIG coilspring foothold steel trap. Preferably a #4 or #5. It can be complete junk, doesn't even have to work. ?I want to make a doorbell out of it.
Anyone have one for sale?
Thanks
That might be a bit of a tough find.

I think I have 1or more. Definitely have several # 3. Put the bulk of what I have away decades ago . They should be in great shape. Most my coyote and fox traps were fine tuned , boiled and waxed when I used them. Probably wouldn't hurt to sell some off.

A #5 is one big trap and there is nothing in my area nor yours that would warrant the use of one. I had some #3 and #4 LS for beaver years ago but they are gone

Never had a 5. Had 4's. Not many, primarily for beaver here. I trapped 2 winters in Washington state in the 1980's. Had some bobcat and lynx sets out there.

I used 330's on Beaver. Years ago tried a few #3 and #4 long springs on them but they were not as effective as a 330 in my area. I guess we do have a few Bobcat here now but I have never seen one. We are full of Coyotes, the scrounge of the earth. I found a partial Red Fox hide last weekend that the Coyotes had got. I was leaving this morning and saw one on the lower area. I am sure the Coyotes will get it soon.

Coyotes are mean critters. They pretty much had fox wiped out here for about a decade. Reds came back some but haven't saw a grey for many years. Coyote hunters have helped a lot. Trappers can't afford long lining with little to nothing fur values. Was a guy catching 100 + a year until about 2 years ago. Said furs never even paid for gas.
Still aiming to check for a big trap. Slipped my mind today.

I am still looking here. Does it have to be a coil spring? I might have a few big jumps.

I dug around a bit and found a #4 jump. I was preparing to offer it to you ..........then I saw the tag. It was one of my Dad's. No way in hell I will sell it now.

There is a #2, #3, and #4 for reference.

I am trying to figure out what is special about a coilspring. I am trying to visualize what you are wanting to do and drawing a blank.

Of course that is not surprising. Some think my head is in my hind and filled with helium
