Just another MS880 build.

A local tree service brought in a MS880 that had been pulled into a tree stump burl or root flare. I don't know what happened but it caved in the oil tank on the PTO case half. Luckily Saun was able to fix it up after looking all over for some used cases and coming up with nothing. I've previously opened up the intake 088 style and modded the muffler. It still has a base gasket and such. A tree service work saw with a 42" .404. Here are some pics of Saun's art work and the build.

I had intended it to be a build thread but alas... I just want the things off my bench and often glaze over steps. Enjoy and maybe the pictures will help someone in the future. This saw has been killing trees again for a few weeks... I'm slow as usual.

I bet there are more around than moat realize. The thing is the guys using them to stump big yard trees or cutting big timber treat them as a consumable tool. At least in the central NC area they are not hens teeth.

You should post the before picture of that case, it was cracked in 3 places and caved in 1/8" or more.

The cast muffler outlet is best enlarged on them.

Stock. I could barely get my pinky in.

Square tubing cut on an angle.

Can’t have a big saw sounding like a leaf blower.
