Been eyeballing one of these for a while, wanting a decent small top handle to keep around, and I've been wanting to play with one of the chinese saws. Everything points to these being a decent little saw so I ordered one. Went ahead and ordered the bar and chain combo as well, but I'm curious to what the actual bar mount is? I've found conflicting info on the web, with some indicating it's an A041, and others a EA095. Was hoping someone here could shed some light on it.

I've seen afleetcommand's video about upgrading the bolts that the bar rides on, any other mods I should look at doing? I've done plenty of repairs, but never really done much modding on a saw yet.

It use the same bar as the poulan S25 DA. An antique saw.

That would most likely be an A041 then. Thats good, very common. Thanks very much.

Yes, it's A041, but A095 would work fine too with a smidge of filing to connect the adjuster hole to the groove. They're otherwise identical.

Speaking of bars and chains though, I think a narrow kerf 3/8lp setup would be nice on one of these (usually distinguished by having a gauge of .043 in 3/8lp world). My 2511t is much nicer with stihl 61pmm3 .043 3/8 picco/low profile setup than the full size 3/8lp .050 setup it came with. 1/4 pitch is probably great too, but I didn't want to chase a new sprocket.

I don't own my own G2500 clone, but I worked on one for a coworker. Yellow version, from amazon he said.

Besides maybe a narrower bar/chain setup and the bar being a bit sloppy on the mount, the one thing I'd note is that carb adjustment was waaaaaaaaay rich on his. It was four-stroking with the bar buried and loading up at idle, smoking a lot, and he was using the recommended 25:1 oil ratio it said on the box.

For around $105 I was very tempted to get one for fun...but I have the 2511T already...and 200T...and parts for a 201T...and I don't climb more than a few times a month!

Had to hack it a bit.. But works well now. The bar oil pump is suspect but still works on mine. Jump into the video 7-8 minutes. Probably should do a focused one on that g2500..its still rattling around in the excavator.

did this a while back:

I have the same saw with different plastics.
Don't do a muffler mod, I drilled the baffle out with a drill bit that fit in the outlet, it does run a hair better but is too loud.
I have a bar for a poulan 3314 on mine, it fits great and didn't need any mods to keep it from moving up or down.
I had two issues with mine, the joint in the fuel line leaked, I replaced the fitting with one that's a hair bigger and its fine now. The other problem was the oil line fell off the pump, I put it back on and put a zip tie on it like a hose clamp to hold it in place, you cant pull the line off now.
Other than those two tiny issues, the little saw starts and cuts great.

Thanks guys, I’m looking even more forward to getting my hands on it now. Picked up a few more big saws to work on today to keep me occupied in the mean time.

I just bought one. Haven't even had it in the wood yet. A couple of more heat cycles and I'll get there.

I had one issue right out of the box. No oil at the bar. Ended up pulling the bar off, emptying the oil tank and blowing back through the little rubber grommet/pipe back into the tank. Could hear something pop out of the line. Works fine now. I run all my saws at 32:1 and same with this one. Should have a video review of it soon.

Had a problem with mine too, they shipped the bar I ordered, but no chain. Didn’t want to wait another 3 weeks, so got me an Oregon 91vxl. I’m impressed with the saw. Buried it in a stick of dry Elm I had, and it happily chewed away without slowing much. Handles limbing quite well. Probably going to do a muffler mod when I have time.

Some pics of the muffler mod when you do it would be cool!

This is what I'm planning, removing the original outlet tube, drilling, and welding on a new 1/2" tube. The opening in the plastic will have to be opened a bit too, and of course retune the carb. I've seen several people on facebook who have done it and rave about the results. Original tube on the right, new outlet on the muffler.
