A relatively stock Ms 461 muffler gutted exhaust opened timing advance I was going to do a base gasket delete but did not, it wants to run at 14200 RPM it pulls very strong there but as you know that is 700 RPM above it's supposed max tune of 13500 .
So the question is would you run it there because at 13500rpm my 261 kills it and its fat as a pig on a pig farm .

Cheers D

From the examples I've seen a gasket delete would not be advisable.
If your saw is four stroking in the wood then lean it out until it just cleans up and still four strokes when it is lifted from the cut immediately and it will be fine.

I had one that was a head slapper without a gasket.

Keep it in the cut and it wont spin too fast, restrict the muffler a bit
should also slow it down a shade.
I opened a muffler on a 4300 makita and I have the same problem,
it has to run too fat to keep it near where it is specced to be.

The factory spec is for a factory spec saw guys. Once you start modding that goes out the window.
Yep my mmsw 460 tunes at just under 15000 rpm any richer and the plug comes out like this .

Tune the saw where it wants to be. The tach is just a reference.

Once you mod, the factory specs go out the window. They are only meant so people will keep saw in safer tune range stock.

As for the extra rpm, your running in the wood rpm will be much slower so that actually rpm of tune won’t make a darn difference.
