Has anyone taken a Husky bar with 9mm slot and opened it to 12mm to run on a Stihl saw?

The outer stud threads on Stihl saws are 8mm right?
Why not get a pair of studs (or take off the ones from the saw) and turn/mill the shoulders down to 9mm.
When using a 12mm slot bar just utilize an adapter.

That is what I am doing on my Dolmar PS-9010's which had 14mm studs.
This way I can run any bar slot from 9 to 14mm.

I’ve had a few done that way. I don’t have a mill myself, but a friend of mine does, and he mills them out for me. The slots on the Husky bars are a little longer, so you have some more adjustment to work with. I’d say go for it.

And @gurwald, did both of you open them to exactly 12mm? Hate to ruin my old cannon bar. Thanks for replying.

Cannon bars might be a tad harder, but I used a jigsaw with hss metal cutting blade, drilled the appropriate sized hole for the end radius and then hand file finished it on a Oregon D025 bar that I ordered by mistake instead of a D009. I ordered several machined bar spacers from Mike @Homelite410 and now I’m set up for any large stihl to work on large husky mount saws sans the physical bar mod.

I didn’t need to trim the tail of the bar for a 395 or 3120. If you make the slot length the same as a D009 the standard drive link chain will work. If you chose not to modify, you will need 1 driver longer chain than the bar calls for.
