Thanks guys. Cutters look great!
For me, round file is still easier. The square challenges me and my skills. Every time I usually get a little better and better...
A constant work in progress. I kind of do trial by error. Keep what works, and change what doesn't.

Looks like I got some work to do. This may sound dumb but I'm finding this easier to pick up then learning to round file.
You gotta put your chains in wood trying to make the chain the only variable. Use same saw, same bar, same stick of test wood. Video and time your cuts with both round and square.
Then work from there. Refile. See if you get faster.
Thing with square is it seems to hold a nice edge longer in clean wood. And it seems much smoother in the cut. For me at least.

20191207_160105.jpg From the saw to the Y will be my test log. Need to pick up a new chain the one I'm playing with now has cutters from half life to may break off next time out. Figured if I butchered it on my first attempt wouldn't be a big loss.

Nice. Looks like 12-15* top plate.
I'm still trying to figure out what the top plate angle does to the cut...
More or less... Faster or slower...Better or worse...Stay sharp longer or less...
Thoughts???

IMO, it’s durability. The finer that leading edge point the easier it’s going to loose it’s sharpness. FAF while it’s sharp though.

I have to clean mine with a fine wire brush every now and then, but I haven't worn one out yet

Its called a file card and using one religiously will greatly extend the life of your files

YMMV
