Beautiful day out there today. Went and picked up another John Deere Hydra 185 lawn tractor. Ugly but seems to run good with no smoke. Ordered a new ignition switch as it seems like I have to play with it to get it to turn over. After that, went out and split most of the ash that was on the pickup. Be back at it tomorrow.20231007_170109.jpg20231004_141237.jpg

Those ign. switches can be cleaned by spraying carb cleaner through the key slot, to flush out the crud. Dry with compressed air, and spray with a multi-lith spray to relube. Mine has been working fine for 4 or 5 year since the last cleaning.

That's good to know and I may try it. I did order one from Amazon for $20. It also has PTO issues and looks like the wires are cut off of it. Not too worried about it as I plan on using it for hauling wood and back up parts for my 185 with snowblower on it.
They seem very solid and much better built than most new ones.

Good afternoon y'all. How is the market where y'all are at? I'm trying to sell a nice MS460, among others, and the best offer I've had was $500. Seems awful low.
The current economy is not helping any, unfortunately...
Only saws I've sold of late have been either here on ope, or ebay.
The market may be kinda slow, but I've done fine for what I was selling.
Hopefully you'll get some serious buyers.

I think buyers are thinking with the way things are going that people are hard up for money and will take any offer they get. Put a rock bucket up for sell and had a guy message saying he was on vacation but wanted it when he got back. He messaged yesterday and offered about half of what it was listed for. Same old song and dance, I can get it cheaper, better, newer, etc. Then do it and don't bother me with your low ball offers. If you can pickup a Bobcat branded one for half the price you would not be bothering me.

A few years ago I picked up 80,000lbs of new steel tubing at an auction to resale.
I had one guy come out with a cut list, we cut his list and loaded it up, then he had the gall (or stupidity) to make me an offer...
I told him in no uncertain terms that you're supposed to do your negotiating before cutting and loading, and that he could jolly well pay me my 25 cents per pound and get his ugly carcass out of my face and not come back.

Good morning everybody, it's a lovely 53 here, with a prophesy of 74 later.

Good morning fellas. 35 to 55 today. We were spared the frost at the homestead this time. The plants are still looking pretty good. Temp wise, the plants should survive at least for the next week according to the weather guessers.
