We don’t have a ton of ash trees here, but the ones we have are still alive..

Fortunately, the bugs aren’t mobile enough to make the trek and would starve to death before they got within 50 miles of our area.

Hopefully it stays that way.
They've murdered all the ash here in just the last 2 years.....😡

We had almost 5” of the white stuff, very wet. We are probably down to around 3” now after melting.

I will see how much moisture it actually amounts to. If I remember correctly this is the proper procedure for determining snow - rain equivalency.

Maybe I better check the interwebs to be sure.

The reason I am trying this is because I dumped & packed a 3 gallon bucket of snow in the dogs heated bowl & there was only about 1“ in it this evening when I got.
I was too lazy to meander up to the house & get water this afternoon.

A friends dad gave me the rain gauge several years ago, it is the manual calibrated type the National Weather Service uses.

Stratus, I believe is the brand of gauge. I used to need a new rain gauge every 2 years, until I got one of these. I've had mine 7 years and leave it out year round and it's as good as the day I put it out.

While mounting a couple scopes today, I also made an executive decision today about sighting in some 22’s & a 17hmr

The kitchen counter looks to make a nice shooting bench & the grandkids can hike out thru the snow & mud to the 25 & 50 yard areas to change the targets when needed. There is a nice 200yard lane to shoot.

The upper & lower sashes both move & will fold flat. I will just have to clean off mamas mess on the table.

Redneck : yes
Chits given : none

May as well shoot in a temperature controlled environment. I don’t believe I want to be firing any high powered weaponry in from the kitchen but …

The kitchen table is too wobbly, the counter is solid. The wood stove will be behind us in the family room so the temperature won‘t be an issue with the window & porch door open, should be plenty of air circulation also.

I did remove the screen today also. My brother thought he had a easy snipe on a goat at his place, got all excited & stuffed his rifle thru the screen.

I got my Christmas present today, no idea what its going to go on. The front sights on my 5.56 are too tall & pinned, my son & I will assess it Saturday. It may get put on my brothers 17hmr or a 10/22 for chooting rats at the cattle lots & bin site.
