I finally got around to putting my mill together. And put it to work on a hard maple. Regular full comp chain 36in on a 661 didn't take long at all to make a pass on the 5-6 foot log. I was surprised I actualy think my 4 brakes were longer then the whole cut. I would stop let the saw idle for about 30 seconds to cool off.. cut was very very Smooth and again didn' take long at all was super happy. Will load up more pics as I mill I only made two cuts and then the damn rain got me. I sware the rain is non stop20180518_182006.jpg 20180518_181958.jpg 20180518_181952.jpg

Very addictive. Next thing you know you’ll have stacks of slabs all over your property. Ask me how i know!
Friend of a friend just contacted me and asked if I could mill a sentimental tree for him. Already down, 36” and 7’ long. Says it’s basswood. This should be fun! Now, what to charge??

My exact thoughts. Said he planted it and is retired now so maybe he's a carver. My dad uses that for small projects.

@661joe looking forward to the rest of the pics. It's been monsoon season here too. We finally got a little sunshine yesterday and this morning.

My mill is a 36in Alaskan with a 661 on it
ms-460 muffler-mod 36" alaskan was a start. Couple years ago I ran skip square chisel on 38" x 10' white oak at the yard waste dump with a 42" bar. A man with a downed Ash about 40" x 86" asked if I'd like to see if I wanted to have it! The stump was a beauty of color and used my 50" Cannon to start, then moved on to the 60" Cannon. One more slice was available only if I had a six foot bar.:( The grinder got a table that wood have been about 64" x 94" with the root stretch:chatter:. The 60" was bought "just in case" ; who knew. I have a 72" forester "just in case" and a year ago found a 661 w/ported cylinder couple of tanks run thru for less than dealer price:applaudit:Just a warning how this thing grows in ways that resemble CAD
