Hey guys. My saws are in my sig. I think all of them are there. Which would you have @Mastermind port? I was thinking the 2159, but I think I have what I need to port it myself.

So now I’m thinking the 266xp. The 395 would be cool but I have a hard time getting wood to feed it.

Would you keep the stock 266 head or go for the 272 head?

To get the most value for monies spent I'd get your most used saw done. Also if your gonna tip 3-hunge into a saw, do it to a nice one not an old clapped out beater. If your J-red 2159 (359) is nice perhaps that's a good option.

Agreed with both above. If able, get a 272 top end and port that, direct bolt on upgrade for your 266. My brother just got done porting a 359 (same as 2159) and it’s an animal. If it were me, I’d get the 2159 done by Mike (t4driller), it seems he’s the 359 guru lately. Here’s the one Joe ported for Dan, mike cut the base and squish for him.

I'd like to have a 70cc saw, and that seems to be a good all around size, so 2159 or 266 it is.

The 266 cyl has good compression, so I have a hard time ditching it. 'Spose I could sell it. I have another idea up my sleeve I want to do with that project too, muahahaha. I may need cases for it, we'll see. I figured I'd tear it down and see what's up, put it back together as far as @Mastermind wants, and let him port it. I'm pretty much locked in with him.

I'm certain that you won't be disappointed in Randy's work. I have not had him do a saw for me, but you'd be hard pressed to find a bad thing said about him. I would have him do the 266 or 395.

Now doing your own, the 2159 would be a good one to cut your teeth on. Removable transfer covers make working with the transfers a breeze. The vid Josh posted above of the 359 is the first 359 I have done. I'm happy with the results

The 359 is getting a 357 top end, no covers to remove. But I’ve played with the cheap top end that is on it, and I’ve read you guys’ threads, so I have numbers. You might check out my “100psi AM cyl” thread. Kinda convoluted, but...

I have heard the 266 is a factory hot rod. I would have that one ported and not do the 272 top end.

It really doesn’t matter which one you have done first, bc it would not be the last one you have done. Once you have ran a ported saw, a stock saw won’t suffice. If you don’t run a 395 Because of lack of wood, I would skip that one for now.
