A saw didn't do it... mother nature did.

It is. The fam and I were fortunate enough to visit the left coast. Muir Woods were spectacular. I think it'd be a sin to burn any of it.

I'm willing to bet the farm, every swinging dick in that area now will order small plastic bottles w/screw on caps by the hundreds, have labels printed, chip down any and all wood pieces/bark pieces they have, regardless of what tree type, and sell it as 'Official Pioneer Cabin Tree' wood...'get your piece of history now.'

But wait...there's more...if you order now we'll double your Pioneer Cabin Tree wood for $19.95. Just pay separate shipping...lmao! Watch the scammers come out of the woodwork (pun intended I 'spose) on this one, and the gullible fools will make'em a small fortune.

We didn't see it, but I'd be willing to bet it'll rot.

From what I see of the pictures it looks pretty rotten already, maybe that's why it came down.

They said it was hit by a forest fire in the 1800s and the bulk of the hole was there. The owner just squared it up for people to drive through

That was a Sequoiadendron giganteum, not to be confused with the Coastal ‎Sequoia sempervirens.
They don't burn worth crap, the wood makes poor lumber, but it won't rot very fast.
If they were good for anything, they would be gone.
