got my brand new saw today. It's been about a month since I ordered it. Haven't seen to much on the forums about the ps421's twin smurf brother.

It's a Makita ea4300f45c. After I had ordered it, the company I bought it from in BC emailed me and told me they were out of stock. They figured it would be a a few days till they could ship one out. Unfortunately They had found out Makita just finished a production run in Germany and had a mass shipment to the Canada warehouse. I was told the saw would be a month +/- old.

After alittle over a week they had received it and had it out for shipment within a couple hours. Then more than a week later (I live on the other side of Canada.... It was the best price I found for that model :) )I finally got it.

I have already removed the cat out of the muffler and previously modified a 16" k095 into a k041. Left the gills in the muffler for now. I want to see how it runs like that then might remove the gills if I feel like modifying it any more.

I seen a tiny bit of gas in the primer bulb when I took the saw out of the box. Figured it was run at the factory for QC.

Enough rambling. Here she is. Sun was going down at this point so sorry for the darker pics.

A fella offered me a Dcs340 awhile ago. Looks like a solid built saw. Have a 041av waiting for me to build tho. Trying a new thing of one saw at a time LOL

Started the 4300 today. Ran great. Has a double d nut for the H needle tho. Needs alittle richening then it would have been perfect. I'll wait to richen it before I fire it up again.

Nice... Mine is a go to for anything 12in and under. I am thinking of running a 14" 325 bar and semi chisel chain just so that i get a little longer cut life between sharpenings over 3/8 lp/picco.

The earlier ea4300's don't have the vent ribbing ("gills") on the front muff cover.

I might order a .325, 15" or 14" bar for mine as well and try it.

Decided to hog the gills out while I'm tinkering with this saw.

Also got my DD driver this week from Amazon. Didn't fit right. Took some tiny machinist files and widened the radius and flats a tiny bit. Fits like a glove now. Gonna try dialing Er in this weekend. I might be able to get a video
