Picked this up today, n this is my first makita/dolmar saw. Can anyone tell me anything about them, what to look for, and what upgrades to do? It pulls 170 psi cold, and yes I know that it has the wrong kill switch, I'll get one ordered.20160617_205300.jpg 20160617_205248.jpg 20160617_205311.jpg 20160617_205334.jpg

They are great, reliable saws but s little underpowered for their size, a Dolmar 7920 top end swap makes them a heck of a saw.

7920 or 7900. Also anyone know where to get a reasonably priced top end, used or new don't matter?

$200, not sure if it was a great deal. But it runs and cuts. I tried to talk them down but no dice. I still think it's cheap enough I could justify updating it.

The 7910 piston is much lighter than the 7900 piston. Someone correct me if i'm wrong

Is there a filter upgrade for these, that is one thing I am not impressed with, in addition to being tiny the way it clamps on is horrible.

I thought my 6400 was a extremely heavy under powered saw, after porting the 7910 cylinder it was better but still heavy.

I think they feel lighter than a 460, similar feel to a 440 in my hands.

Still though stock form stock, the 79cc top end is potent.

It is one saw that runs amazing although in theory it should'nt

Sent from my non internal combustion device.

Yeah the weight was the first thing I noticed, but I've been on a 50 cc saw kick for the last couple months. So my sense of weight is a little off right now as its been a while since I used my 390 or 046.
