I was cutting a tree that fell the other day. I came across a partial telephone pole, as I noticed the tag on the bottom in the sunlight. It was very heavy and dense Cedar that was treated with non rot chemicals. Anyone have any idea how to read or make out what the tag means?
I just zoomed in on the nail holding the tag on the wood. The numbers usially equate to the year of production. It shows 61, meaning 1961. Really cool. I am going back to pull that out.
I can't believe how hard that wood was still.
I burned a few cuts a few years back. The pole looked blond with no chemicals. I didn't realize it, but it really smoked and smelled bad outside. lol
Still had chemicals in it. Didn't really burn that well.
