Bat, bats and more fu*king bats

My goodness, don't shoot bats, they eat an unbelievable amount of bugs. And you're more apt to get struck by lightning than bit from a bat. I've got bat houses, get you some!

We need to build some. Seems like every country or region has a different system or box. For us we have to build. No natural nothing left here for them. They seem to like cozy winters on the south side in wood and masonry attached to ground or buildings with residual heat loss. Wood boxes with cleanouts looks to be the best option. What kind of wood to use is the question. High up in an old red cedar will be the location here.

All this talk about bats reminds me of a night I had at my local pistol club about 23 years ago I was shooting my Springfield 45 and a micro bat (wing span around 4 5 inchs) flew right in to one of my 185g XTP doing 1050fps I must say splat factor was impressive we didn't find much ......
