I ended up with this lil thing in trade ,has plastic cases,coil springs and says 46cc on handle ,but is not a 261 ,says 251 c ? Has a huge flippy cap instead of bar nuts ,has a pico chain also .What do i have ? , Never heard of this model . Is this just a modern ms170 ?

Yeap it's the replacement for the 250. Been out for years, the c on that model is the easy chain adjuster and easy start

Ms251 with the ez start I looks like as well as the ez bar adjuster. The floppy cap loosens like bar nuts. The black wheel above it will tighten and loosen the chain. The ez start you don't yank like a normal starter. Just a long slow pull out and release.

The wifes lawn edger has the easy start option ,maybe i will give the saw to her for yard work ,trimming branches and stuff ,she has an ms170 now ,but it is gutless cutting even 6 inch logs .

Yes it's the replacement for a 250 which is a clamshell. It's a homeowner saw but they are good runners.

I have the standard version ms251 with a slight muffler mod. as my small saw and that little prick runs damn well.
