Well, I've had a hard time deciding which saw to do for this shindig, but chose the 662 for several reasons. There is not a lot of material posted about them, they have a nice long stroke at 38mm, and I have a really good selection of them to choose from. I have a couple versions of it finished, and will have them at the gtg this weekend. Pics and vid will also be coming.

Nice.

Until my recent Google search, never seen one of these.

Looks like a pretty solid saw.

I don't know if the 665 really replaced it, the designs are much different; one thing I have found they do share, is cylinder base bolt pattern.
Yes, the 662 is 46mm bore, and the 667 is 48mm.

The stock timing numbers are very interesting: 662 stock with base gasket EX97 IN72 TR116 667 stock with base gasket EX98 IN70 TR115 The very low blowdown and intake numbers are for a reason........

Here are a few of the victims in various stages of assembly. They have the typical German over-engineering.

A side view. Notice the very nice intake and exhaust angle.20161129_121814.jpg

A pic of the lowers and combustion chamber.

The stock intake port; it's kinda small, but so is the carb and intake. This though, is the shape I strive for when porting.

Does one of those saws on that bench look familiar to me Alan?

That's a pretty high exhaust from the factory! What did the squish clearance measure?

No brand has impressed me in stock form like a Solo. Whether its a 681 saw or 142 clearing saw or 67cc backpack blower. I have many husky/Stihl products and Solo too. When I run them I think why the hell don't folks know about this brand.

Here is a vid of the one I had.
I sold it on ebay to thin out some saws. I think I got less than 150 bucks for it. No one knows what they are. Good torque easy start nice low idle.

When I started it for the first time it would idle but not rev at all seemed odd. Turns out the muffler was closed off with mud. easy fix ran like a top.
