I recently got my Makita 9010 set up with a 41” bar and Oregon 68JX chain, .404 full skip. I see it’s square ground. How big a difference will I notice when I round file? Square filing is out of the question before you mention it. My hand shakes are bad enough that I bought a Stihl FG2 filing jig. Will performance still be good with round filing or will I need to hire somebody to square file it . Thanks.

It looks round from the pictures on loggerchain.net and doesn't mention square. Kinda pricey too, and I need some for my 9010.

Is your 9010 ported? Do you know the numbers if it is? I'm just curious.

Porting was done by @Miller Mod Saws.
Square cut chain is always gonna cut a little bit faster depending on who sharpens it.
Honestly though a very good round .404 is gonna throw big enough chips you won't notice.
I prefer a 1/4 file for .404 but if your more comfortable with the 7/32 it works too.

I used Google to double check myself and Baileys says 7/32 file or 3/16 wheel for sharpening. Then father down they say three sided chisel bit file?
