There was a recall on the 661 when it was first released too. I heard ten different "reasons". Bottom line......who knows. Don't panic. Have a Snickers bar and get your asses back to work.
Crash Test Dummies get exited when they feel they are pushed back out of que.

I prefere chocolate and ported 372's.
You can't reinvent the wheel but I must say when I played with the 500 in the store, it reminded me of the 371 xp

But what is with the tight brake with no glide on some of those Stihl saws???

That is no good to man nor beast.

Day two of not working. Thankfully the ambulance company was totally understanding of my situation and said their clients can wait as long as it takes to resolve the recall.

A short time after buying my first new 51 I learned of a recall (scary word then) on it.
Stopped at the dealer and asked. Said he knew nothing and went away for a time. Came back and said yes the muffler needed changed.
I said well give me one and I'd change it. He said no they had to and will keep the old one.
Thinking now I should of ask how many weeks to change the muff.
Not sure if just me he talked down to or everyone. I washed my hands of that place.

Fast forward I think I have one of those mufflers. Brazed together and a partition in the exhaust exit, in like new condition.

OK back to torching the 500.

The seals are not suitable for submersion over 5 meter deep for longer than half an hour, too many potential boat owners would make claims so Stihl felt it best to replace the seals with updated ones which endure 6 meter depth for an hour.

Stay tuned . . . ;)

Local dealer has been trying to order a 500 for awhile now. He said “They were initially showing November 2019 ship date and then it just got pushed back to mid-2020”. Did not have any info other than “there was a problem”. I’d venture to guess somebody screwed up a batch of something’s that are required for these saws.

Day 11, I’ll be honest it’s been tough to keep my word on this one. A few people have missed dialysis treatments and things don’t look to good for them. My logger buddy said his kids are hungry since he can get to work. Let’s just say my boss ain’t to pleased at this point. I’ve been called a few names and belittled more than once and worst of all I don’t think Stihl even cares. I’m tough though and the snickers are keeping me from starvation.

I’m sticking to my word on this one. No work until the recall is settled. I’ll use the saw for fun stuff though. You can blame @Mastermind for all this stuff. He should have known there’d be a defiant smarty pants before he told us to have a snickers and go back to work.

I’m all good in the saw department for now. I’m just messing around about not working. I’m an auto mechanic for a living. It’s super nice of you to offer though.

The 500i showed up at my side job shop for $1300.00. I'll ask the power equipment manager if he knows anything about tue recall. We carry the bigger saws but don't sell many of them.
