Black is limited as well but at 12k or a touch higher. You can lean them out a little with the L screw. It feeds into the H on those carbs. It may hurt response a little to get it where it's cleaned up on the top end when you do that.

I will have a look today at what coil is in it
Will try the low adjistment crew and see if this helps.
Reading that a walbro WG-8 is an adjustable carb for this saw.
$80 in the USA
Anybody tried this out?
Looks like rain today so no milling in the bush.
Maybe try some work at home if weather permits.
Going to try a 24" bar on it off the 61.
Will drag some logs over and see how it works.

As it is now my 070 will out cut this saw hands down.

Mine goes way above 12k :/ so many variations with this saw.

Check out the muffler, will try and post a pic of mine tomorrow.

Mine had the "jungle" fixed jet 1.25mm and stock muffler to go with black coil. My 90cc saw cut better till I opened up muffler exit, saw could not get enough air out to use all the fuel effectively and really had no guts up top.

I was thinking the same thing iron.
This saw sounds like the 272.
Few dB higher.
I'm surprised a big saw like this is choked out.
Especially in central America were we have no epa or noise bylaws.
Was hoping they had a different model for down here but apparently not.

What's involved in adding a H screw MD?
I have tools or access to a machine shop in town.
I think this would make a world of difference.
I'm betting this is the green coil.
I don't feel comfortable opening the pipe up till I have a H screw installed or the wg-8 carb.
I don't want to lean it out and burn it up.

I like the weight and balance of this 3120 though just not happy with the top end power band.

The 070 got nicknamed the gymnasium.
We used to tease a sawmill owner when we saw him running after work.
We would yell come work out on the 070 with us and you will loose weight. LOL.

I will say that trumpet pipe I made for the 70 sure boosted the power and expected the same kind of power from the 3120.

Will grab a air filter and change fuel filter well at it when I go to town.
Maybe buddy at the husky shop will trade me coils.
He is really good this way.

Thanks for all the tips and help guys.

You have to make the screw and then tap the carb. Randy, Terry L, and several others over here do them.

I went to see Juan Carlos today at the husky dealer
He thinks it's the coil.
Not sure though he said.
Said this is 1st step
Black coil BTW. Iron.
He said 12500 rpm is what this coil is rated for.
I tried the L screw.
No different.
Finicky saw if it's not dialed in.
Juanca at dealer doesn't like this saw and kept saying 390 or 395 today is a better saw.
His reason was I could adjust in the field as needed.

I'm going to try another coil off a different saw that runs good and see if this solves the gagging top end.

Pura Bira as we say here boys & thank you
Getting hammmmmmered on a Friday night. Lol

12K for a 3130 thats howling I like it what wood are you milling

That was on the logosol running .325 chain, did that upto maybe 18" on sheoak. Don't know about jarrah, only put a tach on once. Did have muffler mod and a mild port I did.

Currently in bits, my carb is being modded for h jet. Ceramic bearings, 084 crank and port job will require it for sure.

Good luck with the coil and getting hammered :borra2:

Also perhaps try one cut with the muffler deflector removed. See if it's any better. If like mine, even the deflector was a restriction.

Is all this happening to your 3120?! That sounds like it's going to be a monster frankensaw

It still amazes me how much the muffler restricts the saw .I realize it's the EPA even still
