I finally got a new coil, got it running, cut some wood with it In the excitement I forgot I drained most of the gas out of it so I only made a few cuts but it went like stink. I filed it back up and it stared but it surged up revs with no throttle so I shut it down. I couldn't get it to restart so I took it back to the garage. Pulled it part way apart, ring is still in it can't see any scoring, plug looks OK, no viable leaks in the intake. I did try resetting the carb adjustments and they were both like 1/4 out... That doesn't seem right. Also looked to have a bunch of spit back in the intake elbow. I'm going to try the other carb I have, maybe it will work better. Otherwise I've got to check harder for air leaks. I hope it's not the oring under the oiler.

Pull on the fuel hose
Make sure you didn't kink it above the tank.
Put motoseal etc.
Inside the clutch bushing on the shaft.
To make a seal
None of my china clones had an oring.

Other carb isn't really any better, it'll pop every once and a while just enough to make me half to reset the compression release.

I'll check, my line didn't have the wire on it so I kind of hoped it wouldnt break like that.

Well I know why it stared surging, the jug bolts were loose. Must have not had them tight enough and they vibrated loose. It still just pops when pulling it though.

Do you have a way to pressure and vac test?

Raining can't cut today.

It runs again. Different day solved it I guess. But I need more sprocket clips this one is all bent up and won't stay on. I'll measure it later and just buy a 100 pack from mcmaster for $8.

Well it cut down 2 5" oaks, didnt even realize it was touching wood with the fresh upstart chain and 8 pin. It was weird that the chain was throwing sparks in clean wood. The damn think does oil like the exxon valdez, even with the oiler closed all the way it made a whole mess of my garage floor when I was tuning it. I also noticed it needs to have the pto side slightly elevated or else it'll piss itself though the bar oil vent.

The ported one's will definitely pull a 24 or longer bar a lot better.
With 20s they are similar
You can lean harder on the ported one's.
And they keep rpm in the cut.
Not a racer but they cut faster
It's fun to try different setups
Carb muffler bar etc.

Can all your saws just muscle through the chain brake? Mine will still turn like 6-8k rpm on the chain brake. Even just from a stop, I haven't tried engaging it while wfo.
