I take it I hve to take the carb off? They look like they r cast aluminum. On my 461 they were plastic and I could take them out with carb on

2mm hex, jam it in and turn them ccw/cw to wherever you want the new adjustment range. Done! You need not remove anything. Its an ol M/M trick but read the Stihl factory dealer service manual & that's how they do it. You can order an OEM tool which is a 2mm hex with a screwdriver handle. Boom...mic drop.
I have a couple of standard carb saws, I could have bought MT's but chose to order them in regular carb. I am happy with my decision as I suspect many who bought MT saws are too.

I remember doing this back when I owned one. If you want to richen the high, you just insert the 2MM allen and “sprag” the spline. Sort of forcing the screw beyond the limitation. Poof you’re done.

But if you feel the need to pull them...

You do not remove or pull the metal limiter caps on the 261 carbs. As mentioned above, use a 2m hex. When it gets to the end of the limit you apply more force and it'll make a clicking ratcheting noise the rest of the way and continue turning. The entire piece turns and stays together.
