I have had this 16" Craftsman saw since 2000.
I have never had to do anything special to keep it tuned and running.

Is there a better Air Filter available for these?
The standard replacement ones fall apart over time and having to oil it to function properly has always bugged me.

Maybe find a junk newer one with the newer air intake manifold, I don’t know if it would match up but the newer then your model are pretty close, or might be able to eBay an intake assembly

Air filters are overrated. Ditch the old filter, go to your local hardware store get a piece of metal window screen to keep the big stuff out and call it a day.

Just kiddin, I'm no help carry on. ;)
