Some back story for you guys.
I decided I needed to sell a couple saws to help make room for more. After some deep thought I finally decided that it was time to let my beloved MOFO 036 go to a new home.
Down off the shelf it came for a clean up and going over before I listed it. This is when I had my “oh chit” moment. I removed the front muffler cover to have a look at the piston and get a couple pictures and I saw that the piston was covered in very light scratches. The saw had ran perfectly fine the last time I used it and still had tons of compression. Time to dig deeper and see what’s up. Off came the cylinder. The crank spun smooth at first and there was no bearing movement felt. Now because the piston was scratched up I knew there had to be something bad happening. I decided to flush the crank case out and that’s when I felt the bearings begin to feel gritty. Time for a rebuildAs far as I could tell these are the original bearings. The cases have never been apart until now.
