    STIHL Progressive Depth Gauge Tools

I read a lot of posts at the beginning of this old thread, and also at the end of the thread... I know that the thread is about Stihl offering depth gauge tools in Europe and maybe some here figure out how to get some to the USA? Without having to read every post in this 10-pg thread, what's the...

Echo 7310 vs Husky 572 vs Stihl 462

What does this mean, sir? More oil in the mix than even 32:1 or a richer carb setting or something else? TIA

What type of bottle/tip is that?

Hello, thanks for your post about putting the 542i clutch cover on the 540i in the thread I started about chip clearance. So, all I need is the clutch cover and other parts are a swap? Did they charge you and if so, how much? Ah, but you got the whole assembly. Yep, Husky should cover the cost...

    Husqvarna battery saw fix

I am going to cut with it asap, maybe today, and try to pin down what is going on, but since I first complained about this when I bought it when this saw was introduced, I have read several instances of a "known chip clearance" issue. And a poorly designed clutch cover has been mentioned. Like...

    Husqvarna battery saw fix

I have a Husky 540iXP and now they are coming out with 542iXP. The 540 I have, I have complained about, in healthy oak, it "bogging down," too often, "getting in a bind." Like the bar/chain is getting bound in the cut somehow and it stops the saw and I have to go again but I have read all I can...

    Battery saw solution

Does the 350i cut better without bogging or getting in a bind like the 540i or are they the same? Are the 540i batteries usable in the 350i? EDIT: As for the battery question, I read online where a guy said the BLI300 batteries for the 540i saw do fit the 350i saw.

    Battery saw solution

I own plenty of those. Battery saw would be kept in truck. Plus, taking on trails, all you need is bar oil. And also using at home and not polluting the neighborhood with a screamer, lol.

    Battery saw solution

I don't know anyone around here who owns a Stihl msa300, which I suppose is the most powerful battery saw available. Do you guys think any dealer would allow one to buy such a saw and return if it doesn't cut the mustard, scuze the pun? If such a return isn't allowed, I would be hesitant to buy...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

A friend of mine figured out how to get the clips off that hold the gas tank in -- PULL the clip. I was sure hesitant to mess up because no telling what a gas tank costs for an eXmark. He agree with that! He works on mowers a lot. I got the mower going! Removed the tank and was able fish that...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

What the heck! I took the fender off, gas tank is right there. Took the fuel line off the top, peered into it. Could see clearly. There is only one piece of trash in there, a catkin from an oak tree. That could only get in there via the fuel cap being open and the wind blew it into the tank. But...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

UPDATE: Going in the right direction now. I rigged up the gravity fed nurse tank to go INTO the fuel pump and it is running like a top. So, it's something between the pump and the gas tank. Hopefully, I can figure out how to get that gas tank off or completely drained, gotta get to it. Looks...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

As stated in OP, "Installed a gravity feed nurse tank." And I used another fuel line that I rigged up. EDIT: That just made me think of something. I could rig up the nurse tank and put it into the fuel pump and that could rule out the gas tank/line being an issue. If it worked. Of course, if...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

I actually know of a shade tree mechanic who had a crazy problem like this and it ended up being fuel lines he was using which were not 'stiff' enough. Took him a long time to determine that it was the problem. These are OEM lines, ten years old. Can I just replace them with fuel line like you...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

EDIT: I can't see how it could be the solenoid since the fuel pump does not appear to be pumping gas, and the fuel pump is before the carb in the flow of things. Again, it seems like an impulse line problem. But remember, I do not know much! Whatever the problem is, my neighbor says just put...

eXmark (Kawasaki fr691v motor) not getting gas, at wit's end

Suffice to say, I have done everything I and advisors have said to do (except one... more later). Short version... The mower suddenly quit while mowing. The only way I made it to my garage was huge amount of choke, even full choke. Ran very rough at times and would go dead. Finally did go dead...

    Rakers too low

Thanks for your post because I wondered about that, would it just correct itself with use. I did five swipes with the file and I probably should have done three or four. The first swipe didn't seem to do a thing, the rakers were somewhat pointy. I did not use a raker gauge but I do have a...

    Rakers too low

I filed rakers down yesterday for the first time on a chain because I figured it was time. The saw cut like crazy but was extremely grabby and lurchy if that's a word. I thought I remembered that this means that I need to file the teeth a bit more, went too deep on the rakers. I watched a...

    Fixing a saw cutting crooked

Bucking big oak logs, one of three freshly sharpened saws (Stihl ms400) cuts to the left. I did them with a Dremel and it's been working well until this. And the other two saws cut fine. A few inches deep into the cut, it feels like it binds, so, I stop. It's curving to the left. Which is...
