And thats why you won't find me at a public range.
Busiek has no one monitoring it. You just show up and fire away and trust that others have common sense.
Andy Dalton has a strict procedure that is monitored. The monitor won't allow anyone downrange until all magazines are removed, all chambers are open and all firearms are racked. The guy has eyes like an eagle too.

When I was doing a lot of shooting, I used to spend some considerable hours at Andy dalton.

And may, or may not have poached some other guys’ targets occasionally.. just to mess with em.
The confusion caused by a .44 sized hole among their .22 holes is entertaining.

Yeah. Our foam target backup looked like someone took an ice pick to the back of it with 22's compared to fuzzy foam plugs missing with the large caliber rounds.

And thats why you won't find me at a public range.

I've never been to one and have zero desire to do so. That's another reason why living in the middle of nowhere werstern Kansas is a good thing, there's TONS of places to go shooting, and no people.

I would think an outdoor range would be better than some indoor facility. Those look like accidents waiting to happen.

Pigeon Hill wildlife area public range. Three sections 20, 50 & 100 yard.

I’m on the 20 yard far left end. The place is crowded with shooters. Take a break every so often and everyone goes down to mark targets.

*a-hole on far right is being passive aggressive and tarries at the bench until some come back and then he goes to check his target while the rest of us waits on his ass.

This goes on for three cycles.

The next time I get back along with the rest he is still down there I let loose three shots at my target.

He gives me a stare and is say “get with the program son”.

He hustled his buns from then on.

We've got a customer that owns an indoor range around Omaha, NE that will rent you a suppressed .50 BMG M107A1 Barrett to shoot. He also rents a huge range of handguns.

Oh, I got a 450 yard range behind the house.

I go to Andy Dalton because it has excellent shooting benches, walled off booths, and a no nonsense range master. No idea what they've spent over the years on the facility, but it's a bunch.
They even have overhead baffles. With bullet holes in them.. Lol..

I was only in a range to "qualify" for my CCL and stopped at one in Colorado.

That must be one hell of a range to be able to shoot a .50 in there, and I mean backstop-wise. Even suppressed, I bet that first round has a hell of a pop indoors! Lol

I used to do Instagram a few years ago, and some of the videos on there, damn near gave me anxiety, but in some of those, you could see random bullet holes in places they shouldn't be as well. Lol

I'm sure there's good public / indoor ranges out there and if that's what a person has, I completely get it! (I'm hoping I don't come off pretentious, because that is definitely not my intent)

Shooting is one of those things I just prefer to do by myself, or with only a person or two. Things can get out of hand pretty quick with some groups.

Reminds me of when I was a kid, and pheasant hunting was even bigger than it is now out here, and my family would always go with this huge group of out of staters, opening weekend. By 10 o'clock in the morning, the Crown Royal would come out, and by noon, half of them would be so drunk, we'd have twice as many blockers as we did walkers. Can't tell ya how many times we'd get peppered, whether blocking or walking. Needless to say, we quit going with them after a few years, because it got worse every year.

I'm no safety Sally, but guns is one area I don't screw around, and I'm careful about who I shoot with.

Representative of Charlie’s Tree service (Charlie hisself) showed up to reclaim the Husky 562.

I promptly told him I sold it for $400 on C’list.

Smile turned to a frown. [emoji22]

Just kidding.

He left with it but not before paying handsomely for the repairs. [emoji38]
