On the bench for a little performance work. Belongs to Michael Duffy. He saw August ‘s and had to have one. Just a tank or two thru it.
Factory fit/finish and machining is impeccable BTW.
Nice. Post vid when your done, it will be interesting to see if you get worthwhile gains.

Looks like lots of lawn boys will be on my bench now.

I like the old 2 stroke Lawn Boy mowers, have 4 of them and a few parts. One of mine seems to be a little finicky and I can't figure out why yet but I know it's a carb problem or maybe a fuel line or shutoff valve partially blocked. I'll figure it out when I get time...

Nice job Rich.

How was is playing in that tiny bore? What mm is it?

Looks like 2 different saws. I may need one of those.
Dang it. I didn’t measure the piston. Just did a quick search and came up empty handed. As far as porting it, a light hand and patience. Given the proportions you can’t take much away without possibly hurting performance. More like cleaning up after the rough in on a larger cylinder
Realistically most of the gains can be had with a MM and TA. The port work is necessary for that last bit of power. The saw comes apart and back together with a bare minimum of fasteners. You can tell they purpose built this saw. Not a wasted ounce.
Factory squish was .036, gasket was .019 :D

Those things that make you say fart nuggets to yourself. Had it all together but not really all. When I was tensioning rope I noticed it wasnt smooth. Then noticed the shield laying on other side of bench. So apart it came in a haste. Wrong move the pulley caught the spring end just enough and boing. Back together after I walked away for a bit. Cutting firewood today with the 365/372, I thought I blew the clutch when the chain started to creep at idle. Took it to my bench (my tailgate lol). Took the clutch drum off, clutch looked just fine (I don’t abuse clutches or slip them purposely). Turns out the drum bearing wasn’t rolling good because the ash dust completely dried it out and it had some debris on it/ the rolling surfaces. No grease on hand so I used bar oil. Slapped it back together and voila.... fixed. Worked great the rest of the day. Grease your drum bearings often cutting dusty wood!
