Bought this recently for my grandfather. What size bar and chain do you recommend?

How big is the wood he is cutting? I like a 20" on my 70cc saws and have a 24" if needed. Any bigger and I grab a bigger saw.

20” should be good but he doesn’t like bending down to cut things. One day I’ll be the same way

I raffed.

Dallas finally sent it...nice. I'm excited to see what kind of power you can find.
I've had it for a month. Just too much going on with work, fun, and other saws to get to it til now.

I'm curious too. Most of the port work is done. Probably run it tomorrow and see

I keep up to a 32" in my arsenal also Jason, just don't get to use it very often but it is nice to have it just in case. I have a big oak testing log right now that a 36" won't cut thru, but that's a rare duck here anymore. Hard to find big wood here Anymore.

And so it begins again, just picked up this old Stihl Contra Lightning, apparently it runs, but i will go through it before i run it, visually on the outside it looks ok, so fingers crossed internals are good.

Although I use my 36" bars mostly for milling, they also come in handy when I have to deal with the occasional large Oak, Tulip, or Maple. Some of them will actually exceed the reach of the 36" bars.

For preparing logs for milling, it is a lot nicer to just cut through with one cut and have flat ends to work with.
