All gutted and an extra deflector must flow better. I had to open the H quite a bit for it to be happy. You can lean on it more now. I was cutting some rock hard ash and it felt like a different saw compared to stock.

The only problem was that the 500 degree caliper paint I had been using must have been too old. The finish pebbled and while the paint was completly dry, all of the dust settled on it and stuck like it was pine. I’ll have to wire wheel and repaint BBE2E4B8-38BF-4F27-A868-A8E200D66045.jpeg

Did that adhere well? Maybe they changed the formulation of the stuff since I used it years ago rubbed off pretty easy. This newer stuff is tough?
Heat up the muffler a little with a torch. Paint will stick better and pretty much dry immediately. The stuff stumpshot posted a pic of is probably even better. However anything will eventually come off after a while if you hit the muffler on the wood. Just the way it is.

Rustoleum 2,000*is what I use it holds very well. Especially if baked on. I have an old toaster oven I found on the trash pile outside an apartment complex. Little elbow grease and it now serves many purposes in the shop.
I use the broil setting for the 600* step in the baking.

@Stump Shot I have noticed if you take just a plain dry cloth to the 2000 degree Rustoleum it comes to a nice satin finish as well. A piece from a pair of plum Jean pants legs works pretty well for me knocking off the surface after it dries. It’s almost like the last couple of rusting cycles in rust blueing when you card the velvet off the last few times all it really takes is a clean coarse cloth.

TIG Torch should be here tomorrow while I’m at work, will pick up a bottle or argon on way home from work Tuesday morning. 2’nd Son is due by the end of the week.... getting “the snip” then, I might have to do some practicing during my time off after I can get up and walk around.
