The hole was pre-existing. I simply attempted to install what they had already purchased. I didn’t cut any sheetrock. The original fan spanned from joist to joist, so RO was 9.5 x 14.5, which is very difficult to find a fan that is 14x9/10/11/12/13 that is a SIDE exit.
