Well, some updates: our friend
@stihl livin found a nice looking Arctic Cat 700 Prowler for $4300. Obviously more than I (my wife) wanted to spend, but offers some major benefits over an ATV. So, I managed to talk her into it. Talked the seller down to $4000 also, which helps. Of course I then had to look for other cheap side by sides since she's now on board with that idea. You guy's wives never change their minds do they??
So, I found a 2011 Ranger EV not far away. A little more than the Arctic Cat, but not much. Honestly, I know people will be split on the battery thing, but for my application, I think it's the best option. It'll never leave my property, so I'm always close to power. Even if it had a 2 mile range, that'd be more than enough. I like the idea of not having another gas rig on the property. No oil changes, less premium gas to buy, no starters or spark issues. And best of all, quiet. That's always been my main issue with off road vehicles. My place is super quiet and secluded enough that ATVs etc are always a bit obnoxious. The idea of a ranger that sounds like a golf cart is really great.
I've heard of a few issues with the chargers on the early ones, and obviously batteries only last so long, but this one has newer batteries and hopefully an updated charger. Not positive on that though. I did call a couple of Polaris dealers who didn't say anything bad about them compared to a gas rig, so that's good.
Anyway, going to look at it and hopefully pick it up on Monday morning. It'll really be a great addition to our fleet. I'll post some pics when I get it home.
Thanks for the help in the search everyone. I learned a lot about all this stuff, which was totally foreign to me.
