so basically if I take an old HD! and take the media out of it and wrap the maxflow filter around it I should be good right? What actually holds the filter tight?

Or should I know get another 661 filter and modify it for the MAX flow system?

Still anxiously waiting for the 661 MAX flow kits to be released....

here is mine. then I also cannibalized a filter cover.

also did a comparison between hd2 and maxflow. I've done other tests where hd2 was as faster on the short bar. So I'm not fully sold on max flow yet.

That's the same stuff I have, it's gooier than all hell and turns everything blue.

I was just wondering how many guys run them oiled vs dry. Some of them don't appear to be oiled but that could vary based on filter oil mfg.

When my white 80 pore filters get oiled with the BelRay air filter oil, they turn blue. When they get full of fines and need cleaning, they turn brown, like seen in the video. Thats after about 24 tankfulls.

How do you find the performance of the max flow compared to the HD filter
It allows more air, and keeps it cleaner. There is absolutely no fines inside with the MaxFlow, whereas with the HD2 (even when I greased the edges) there is fines in the intake.

Was your saw running a little lean after a big cut with a large bar until it settled down
I've noticed that any change in cutting parameters results in the m-tronic "hunting" for a good tune.

If I make 3 cuts with the chain self feeding in 25" wood, she runs great on the third cut, but fat on the first two.
When I dog in, she re-adjusts in a few cuts and you can here her going fat
When I go back to self feeding, she is real fat for the first couple of cuts (as you can hear in the video)

I switched from a 25" setup to a 36" setup and she was screaming ............ lean, lean, lean
So I do the reset when I go from 25 to 36 now.
Going from 36 to 25 is no cause for concern, she'll just be fat for the first couple or three cuts

Mine has allways given that little snort in rpm's after coming out of a cut

Mine is running a lot better since upgrading the module only takes a couple of seconds to settle down now shorter time than before

Yup, mine settles quicker now too with the new module, but that snort is allways there.

The m-tronic still has to learn the load, so even the new coil runs lean when you increase the bar length ................. IMHO, I'd rather be safe and reset the saw when going up in bar length from previous use
